Hailed as possessing “pristine playing, meticulous composing” and “a very personal voice deserving of attention" by All About Jazz, rising star guitarist and composer Denin Koch has captured the imagination of audiences across the country and the attention of major musicians and critics. He has performed with Arturo Sandoval, Pat Metheny, Branford Marsalis, Ellis Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Dee Daniels, Ryan Keberle, and the Spokane Symphony Orchestra (as a soloist), published a book, graduated from the prestigious Eastman School of Music, and released an album of original music – all before his 25th birthday. With teachers including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Gary Versace and Bob Sneider, Koch has developed a "nimble," "vocal-like" style and a "remarkable, "inherently modern" compositional voice that leaves audiences stunned.“re: manhattan project,” Koch’s debut album, is a ten-movement suite for jazz quintet that reimagines the story of the Manhattan Project, which Koch’s hometown of Richland, WA was deeply involved in. The album received a four-star rating on AllAboutJazz.com, was voted "Reader's Choice" on Jazziz.com, and has been praised as “remarkable,” “extraordinary, “moving” and containing “beautiful interplay.” It also received a grant award from the Institute for Music Leadership at the Eastman School of Music, was named a “Project We Love” by the Kickstarter staff, and was nearly 200% funded by more than 50 backers during its Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.
