
National Premiere of ‘Parkland Rising’

The Virginia Film Festival is proud to support Abramorama Films and Gigantic! Productions as they launch the ABCinemaNOW national live-streaming premiere of their feature documentary Parkland Rising, scheduled for Tuesday, June 2 to coincide with National Gun Violence Awareness Day. The evening will feature a live screening of the film introduced by Executive Producer Katie Couric and will.i.am with a conversation to follow with will.i.am, Manuel Oliver, Greg Kahn (Gun Safety Alliance Co-Lead), Cheryl Horner McDonough, and Manju Bangalore (March For Our Lives LA Chapter Co-Lead), moderated by Katie Couric.
Directed by Emmy-winner Cheryl McDonough, Parkland Rising is an inspiring look at the students and parents who started an international movement to reduce gun violence. The film features David Hogg, Jaclyn Corin, Matt & Ryan Deitsch, Emma Gonzalez, Fred Guttenberg, Cameron Kasky, Patricia and Manuel Oliver. Music provided by AJR, Black Eyed Peas, Sammy Brue, Bob Dylan, Michael Franti, and Pearl Jam. Executive produced by Katie Couric, will.i.am, Kristin Turnacioglu, Kenan Turnacioglu, Keven Duffy, and Sara Ramaker.
An encore screening is scheduled for Friday, June 5 at 7:00 PM ET to coincide with Wear Orange Weekend. Jaclyn Corin, Rebecca Boldrick Hogg, Kevin Hogg, Jammal Lemy, Oliver, Patricia Padauy-Oliver and John E. Rosenthal will be featured in a panel discussion moderated by Meghna Chakrabarti, host of WBUR’s On Point.
After the series of special premiere events, Abramorama will make Parkland Rising available for virtual screenings for two weeks, beginning June 5.
